A big hello to all of the parents from Red class!
It's very hard to believe that the summer was only five weeks ago as we have learnt so much in Red class already! In literacy we have just finished our work on fantasy stories. Everyone in the class wrote a fantasy story opening and designed their very own fantasy setting collage. This week we have started our new topic on poetry. So far we have read poems about the rainforests to link in with our geography topic.
Our science topic for this half term was habitats and we have been investigating all of the different types of habitats in and around the school area. Some of the children even managed to find and locate unsual mini beasts in the school wildlife garden. The children have also learnt why habitats are so important for all living creatures.
Our rainforest topic is still going strong and the children really seem to be enjoying the topic! Last week we compared the weather in Richmond to that of the Amazon rainforest. The children were very surprised to find out that it rains more in the Amazon rainforest than it does here in Richmond.
Finally, in art the children have just completed their fantastic Christmas cards with the wonderful Mrs Cox and Mr Auton.
The red class newsletter will be sent out this coming Friday. If you haven't had a chance to sign up for parents evening yet, please come and see me before the week is out.
Kind regards,
Mr Hambling

Hello everyone
As part of the introduction and launch of the Be The Best You Can Be initiative this week, we were priviledged to meet Paralympian Ian Rose.<?xml:namespace prefix = o />
What an inspiration!
He lost most of his sight to cancer of the eye when he was just a little boy but went on to perform judo at National, European and Paralympic levels. Pride of place among his stash of medals are his bronze and silver Paralympic medals.
He took up self defence as a young boy to build up his confidence and self esteem after being teased and bullied at school about his appearance.
He talked about how important it is to set yourself strong goals, to strive to be the best that you can be and how really very important it is to be able to pick yourself up and carry on when things don’t quite go to plan!
What a fantastic guy, it was an honour to meet him and listen to his story
Striving to be ‘the best that you can be’ is a splendid mantra for the nursery and one that we wholeheartedly adopt.
I will be completing a self assessment form with the children, this is something we do always do at the end of the year but we thought we could also adapt it for use with this project.
I am going to send a copy home for you to do with your child. Please send it back as soon as possible for inclusion in your child’s folder.
Thank you for all the ‘Hopes and Dreams’ slips that have come in.
They make lovely reading.
Keep them coming!
We would like to collect this term’s £6.00 Nursery Fund contribution. Thank you
IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT An afternoon member of Rainbow Class is currently undergoing treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. One result of this is that his immune system has been seriously compromised. He has not yet had chicken pox, measles or shingles and it is vitally important that we do all we can to shield him from these infections. Please report any incidence of these conditions to me as soon as possible and keep your child away from school until they are completely cleared up. Thank you Very best wishes Liz Skivington
Hello everyone,
I just wanted to share the fantastic day we have had in Tiger class today. We have begun to work on our "Be the best you can" project and today it was launched with a visit from Para Olympian Ian Rose who has won a silver and bronze medal for Judo. It was such an inspiring day to meet and talk to Ian. He has become our Hero and inspired us to think about our own goals and challenges. We all talked about and have made a start on our Dreams folders. They will be filled with ideas and plans to help us be the best we can. We are hoping to create a DREAMS wall in our classroom to show our ideas. Over the next few weeks we will explore and investigate this wonderful initiative.
our little Tigers are full of ideas about what they dream of becoming and we will be working on their ideas. Maybe we will use them for our class assembly which is on Friday 3rd February at 9.10. We hope you can join us for that.
Keep wrapped up warm until our next chat.
Love
Sue Fitzpatrick
I hope you all had a lovely Christmas break and that your new year has started well.
Thank you for all your Christmas wishes; they were much appreciated by Mrs Wadlow and myself.
2012 is here at last and it’s going to be a great year.
You will have had information about the ‘Be The Best You Can Be!’ initiative that has been developed to inspire, engage and empower young children to recognise and fulfil their potential and to support the quest that the London 2012 Olympic Games be an inspiration to the youth of Britain and the rest of the world.
Dr David Hemery CBE, a former Olympic gold medallist, is the founder of 21st Century Legacy and is quoted as saying ‘everyone has a spark of greatness within them and through a combination of dreams and practical application they can achieve their potential, as long as they positively set their mind to it, believe in themselves and are prepared to work hard’
Exciting stuff! Essentially more geared to children from Year 4 up but the whole school will be getting involved to some degree and so will we! We will certainly be adopting the slogan ‘Be the best you can be’. Watch this space!
Check out the 21st Century Legacy website to learn. more about it

A big welcome to our new children and their families.
Both sessions are full now, which is great.
We have nursery reps for both sessions and they are keen to put together a class list so will be getting in touch with new parents very soon. In fact Cori Pinkus, the afternoon rep, Louis’ mummy, has already put a form up on the board for you to put your details on, if you wish.
Michelle, Hattie’s Mummy and Ceri, Quinn’s mummy are the morning reps.
For the next two terms I will not be in class on Thursday mornings. Miss Sinead Finnerty will work with Mrs Wadlow in my place. This time is called PPA time and is when I am released to do my planning, preparation and assessment.
One of my favourite displays in the nursery consists of the parents hopes and dreams for their child whilst he or she is with us in the setting.
If you haven’t already had a chance to write yours down I will be sending out duplicate forms and would really appreciate it if you could get them sent back as soon as possible. Thanks!
I have cheated a bit with this blog and copied my class newsletter. If you have any ideas about how I could improve communication between home and nursery I am always open to suggestions.
Very best wishes to you and your families

Ho Ho Ho!
This week we have been busy thinking about Christmas. As well as making, sticking, glittering and decorating things for Christmas we have also been learning Christmas songs and of course learning about the Christmas Story.
The nursery children will be taking part with Reception and Years 1 & 2 in this years version of the Christmas Story performed in the hall next week.
The afternoon children can be seen on Monday at 2 o'clock
The morning children will be performing on Tuesday and Thursday morning at 9.30.
They do not need a costume but it would be lovely if they could come dressed for a 'special occasion'. Thank you.
The nursery children will be opening each performance with Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. They have been learning other songs from the show as well but whether they will be feeling brave enough to sing them on the day of the performance, in front of their families, under the bright lights and with the big children is anyone's guess! So please bear with us and enjoy the show!
The Christmas parties will be on Monday the 19th and we ask that you pack up a festive treat for your own child in a named lunch box. We have found that this is a fair and trouble free way of ensuring that your child enjoys the food part of the party, alleviates waste and caters for allergies and food intolerances.
Thank you
I hope all your preparations are going well!
Best wishes

Hello everyone,
I can't believe another week has gone by . We have had another busy week in Tiger class. The filming was exciting and the children took having the film crew in class in their stride. They were all stars. Our visitors thought the liilte Tigers were very well behaved.

This Saturday is our Christmas Fair from 11.30 a.m. until 3.30 p.m. I am looking forward to seeing you all there. Our class has the Toy stall this year. Hello everyone
Thank you to everyone of you who contributed to our Children In Need Appeal, a great cause and a fantastic response. Well done!
Don't forget that the Holy Trinity Christmas Fair is this Saturday from 11.30 to 3.30pm. Its hard to believe that Christmas is fast approaching with the amazingly unseasonal weather we've been having recently.
There'll be loads to eat, drink and do at the Fair, such as mulled wine, mince pies, barbecue, Christmas Choir, craft workshops, silent auction, raffle, tombolas and of course Santa's Grotto. Holy Trinity Fairs are always great, it will be lovely to see you all there.
This Friday will be the last Mufti Day before the fair. Children may come to nursery in fancy dress costumes in exchange for mince pies and homemade cakes and biscuits. There is still time to bring in donations of toys, books and DVD's in good condition too, thank you.
Have the children told you about our cookery sessions this term? We have been making hearty, healthy and wholesome soups! So far we have made; pumpkin, carrot and coriander and minestrone soups and plan to do more.
Remember to check your child's box file if he/she has been away. Any letters disributed in his/her absence will be put in the box for you.
It was great having Thomas's mummy in with us last Friday morning! You are ALL very welcome to come and share a session with us. If it's too tricky for you to come for a whole session why not come just for the first hour? The children always love to show their parents around and its great for you to get a little snapshot of what goes on.
Best wishes to you all
Liz Skivington
HELLO EVERYONE,
This week the little Tigers are looking forward to experiencing what it will be like to be filmed. We are very excited about our vsitors who will be spending the morning with us.We will keep you posted as to what occurs.
This week we will be helping Mummy and Daddy Bear find Baby bear who has gone missing. Today we were out looking for Baby Bear but we could not find him.
Tomorrow we will be learning about good dental hygiene when we have a talk fron the Dental Nurse. Hopefully we will pick up some good advice to help make our smiles sparkle.
This week we are having a Book Fair in school. We are trying to have it set up as school begins for Reception classes but it will also run after school in the KS1 RESOURCES AREA- just let me know if you need directions to the KS1 area. It is a great opportunity to buy some early Christmas presents or just browse for a treat.
FRIDAY is CHILDREN in NEED DAY so we will be coming into school in SPOTS. Mufti can be worn in exchange for a donation to this worthy cause.
It has been lovely having some of you dropping into class to help. We hope you have felt welcomed and enjoyed your visits.
Thank you for all of your continued support. It is all gratefully received.
Speak with you all soon.

Panther class have had a fun and busy couple of weeks. The children have been very excited about staying for lunch and seem to be enjoying both the food and the company of their peers as they all sit together in the lunch hall. We also attended our first assembly which was very entertaining for us all, Emerald class put on a great performance! Panther class have continued to work hard on their sounds with Flora and numbers with Mickey. We have been going on 2D and 3D shape hunts around the school, we have been learning about our senses and when I popped out of the classroom to make a cup of tea the Big Bad Wolf popped into Panther class to have a chat with the children (apparently he looked just like me).
Thank you to those of you who attended the Parents’ Information meeting last week, it was a great opportunity to catch up.
Have a lovely weekend, see you Monday morning.
Miss Demirci
Hello everyone,
It is great to be back in school. Tiger class has risen to our latest challenge- staying for Lunch. The boys and girls have been enjoying lunchtimes. They are managing to try new foods as well as some old favourites. Watching them enjoy each others' company as they eat is just lovely.
Thank you to all who came to our Parents' In formation Meeting today. It was good to catch up and let you know what is happening.
Next week we have an exciting visit from a film crew. I hope you have all received the paperwork letting you know what is happening. What an interesting morning we will have on the 16th.
This Friday is a mufti day. Donations for the Christmas Fair on the 26th November will be gratefully received.
See you all tomorrow.

Hi all,
We have been very busy in Emerald class this half term and have been learnig all about the history of London. We have whizzed through the early years, finding out about life in Neolithic times. We then learnt about Roman london and the Norman invasion led by William the Conqueror. We loved watching an animated version of the Bayeux Tapestry - it's amazing what you can find on the internet these days.
We had a fantastic day at the Tower of London a couple of weeks ago where he children visited the Crown Jewels, Tower Green, Traitor's Gate and the Bloody Tower. Some of us managed to fly around the White tower too. Thank you to all the parents who gave up their time to accompany us.
The Cauliflower Christmas cards are now finished....hurrah!!! and you can look at the cards and place your orders from Monday until Thursday next week. They shall also be available to view during the parents' evenings.
We are looking forward to our Cinema trip next Friday which will be a lovely end to our first half term..
Cherrio for now!
Miss D'cruz and all of us in Emerald class
Jaguar class have had a brilliant start to school. They are learning and amaze me with the things they say and do every day. This week Jaguar class have been carrying out shape walks, they’ve carried out a tally chart and been amazed at the amount of circles they’ve found. Pentagon, hexagon and octagon are the words of the week and they are working hard to remember these new words. “An octopus has 8 legs and an octagon 8 sides.”
Following last week’s Autumn walks the children have been busy collecting leaves, seeds and flowers for our collecting table. Jake has been seen with his magnifying glass seeing if he can recognise what tree things come from.
Using our shapes we have been making patterns, pictures and sorting. It was lovely to hear the children. “Look at my house it is made from 4 squares”
The children have also been continuing to learn their sounds, writing them and reading them. I keep trying to catch them out but they are all doing amazingly! At the moment “e” is the most popular as it involves breaking eggs.
I am looking forward to catching up next week at Parent’s Evening, Tuesday 5.30-7.30 p.m. and Thursday 3.30-5.30 p.m. I am really looking forward to meeting up with you all and telling you how well the children have settled. Please sign up for a time. Let me know if you can't make the times/days and we can catch up on another occasion.
Our Christmas cards are all finished and ready to buy, they will be out after school next week for you to place your orders.
Thanks
Mrs Kennedy
Panther class have made a great start to the year so far! Although starting school has been a tearful time for some of our Panthers they have settled in very well, it's not easy leaving mummy and daddy to spend the day in an unfamiliar setting. However, even in this short space of time they have begun to blossom and build with confidence.
Since we started school we have been very busy...where do I begin? Since day one all of the Panthers have been very kind making sure that Pedro is always looked after and have welcomed his Mother, Percy, into the classroom. We have been learning a new sound every day with Flora the Flamingo, Mickey the Monkey has been helping us with our counting, we have gone around the school hunting for different shapes and we have had lots of fun searching for the big bad wolf from the story The Three Little Pigs. We have decided to turn our role-play area into the three little pigs house and we have been thinking of ways to catch the wolf .
We have made a wonderful display of our homes and drawn beautiful pictures of our families. We are currently working on our Autumn display which we are looking forward to you seeing when you visit our classroom next week during Parents' evening on Tuesday and Thursday.
We have also been making some fab Christmas cards which will be available for you to view and purchase from Friday 14th Oct.
I look forward to seeing you all next week.
Kindest regards, Miss Demirci
Hello everyone,
Hope this finds you well. and happy. This week Tiger class have been trying to help Little Red Riding Hood . We have been out looking for Mr. Wolf so we can share our golden rules with him to teach him that it is not a good choice to eat your Granny.
Next week is parents' evening, Tuesday 5.30-7.30 p.m. and Thursday 3.30-5.30 p.m. I am really looking forward to meeting up with you all. Please sign up for a time. Let me know if you can't ,make the times/days and we can catch up on another occasion.
The boys and girls have made some stunning designs for Christmas cards. They are ready for you to look at and order and will be sent away to be manufactured. Our class reps will be out with them so you can have a look after drop off.
Keep well until our next chat.
Love Sue x
Wow, I can't believe we are in week 6 already in Orange Class, it must be true what they say, time flies when you're having fun (and learning lots at the same time of course!).
We have had a busy half term already with many exciting things going on. We are immersing ourselves in our Aztec topic and the children (and myself) are enjoying finding out about all of the mind boggling things they used to do to each other! There will be a class assembly by Orange Class on the 11th November where we will be sharing what we have learnt so far (don't worry, there will not be any human sacrifices at this eary stage in the year!).
We have also covered our fictional genre unit and a poetry unit where the children have been exploring personification...all of the class came up with some wonderful poems and they will be shared in the next newsetter!
In numercacy we have covered our year 5 recap and measurement unit...the children have all tried very hard and done so well!
It's onwards and upwards now and we will all be aiming to fulfil our potential in all that we do this year.
There is also a class trip to the British Museum in London on the 20th October where we will be visiting the Mexico room to look at the many incredible Aztec artefacts that have found there way there...we will also look at the European room to see what was going on here at the same time!
Finally....a massive well done to Andrei Mesina in Orange Class who was elected Deputy Mayor of Richmond in the Pupil Parliament which most primary schools in the borough entered! Well done Andrei...Mrs Cox, Orange Class, the whole of Holy Trinity and I are very proud of you!
Until next time...over and out!
Michael Brown
....to be a helper!
Did you know that we do a daily weather watch? Each session begins with a short time in the snuggery. During this time we choose two helpers. Having a turn at being a helper is very important to the children and in these early days it is sometimes hard to understand that everyone WILL get a turn! And more than that, that their turn will come round again and again as I work my way through the class lists! Helpers get to sit in the fabled 'blue chair', do the weather board, be special tidier uppers, get to choose the rhyme cards AND give the book bags out at the end of the session. Can life be any more exciting?
I hope you have all signed up for Parents Evening. There are two evenings allocated next week, if these are not convenient for you don't forget that you can talk to me at any time and make a more formal appointment if you wish.
Christmas card orders will need to be in by next Thursday. The children don't actually know that they have been making Christmas cards, I can't bear to mention the 'Christmas' word til after half term but they have been busy making beautiful, glittery star cards for you and they are available to buy.
Don't forget that the PTA are hosting a special 'Welcome' to families new and old this Friday evening at 8 o'clock in the hall. Everyone is welcome.
This Friday we will be saying goodbye to Riccarda. It's hard to believe that her five weeks with us is so nearly over. It has been lovely working with her and I know that she has really loved working with your children. I'm sure you'll join with me in saying a big thank you to her and wishing her well as she returns to Germany.
best wishes
Liz Skivington
